The pocket or wrist compass is a small magnetic compass that can be attached to a wrist watch band or carried easily in a pocket. It contains a North seeking arrow and a dial in degrees. Pocket compass is a self contained portable instrument which is easy to use and carry as well.
Types of pocket compass
The Brunton pocket compass remains the most trusted tool of geologists, combining the principles of the surveyor's compass, prismatic compass, clinometer, hand level and plumb.
There are other designs available as well. Most pocket compasses are made of brass and given a beautiful finish . Some pocket compass comes with separate magnifying glasses, luminous points for night use and a non-slip protective case. In some cases, they can also be used as pendants, tied in a chain and worn round the neck.
